Instructional Skills Workshop (ISW)
After facilitating and developing curriculum for decades I began my Instructional Skills Workshops(ISW) journey in 2019 with Leslie Robinson. This led to me pursuing my Facilitator Development Workshop (FDW) apprenticeship in 2024, and becoming certified to facilitate the ISW December 2024. As someone already specialized in Trauma Informed Practice (TIP) in the Classroom, along with Decolonizing and Indigenizing Curriculum, I was inspired to develop related optional themes for day 3 of the ISW.
The Instructional Skills Workshop (ISW) is internationally recognized as a leading model for peer-based instructional development. Designed to enhance teaching effectiveness, the ISW provides intensive, practical exercises focused on learning-centred teaching. Participants receive a comprehensive handbook of resources to support their learning during and after the workshop.
Workshop Highlights
The 3-day (24-hour) workshop is a dynamic and interactive experience. Upon successful completion, participants earn a Certificate of Completion recognized by numerous Canadian and international institutions. Additionally, they join a supportive network of peers committed to continuous improvement in teaching and learning.
Path to Facilitation
Graduates of the ISW can further their journey by completing the 5-day Facilitator Development Workshop (FDW). This advanced training equips participants to facilitate ISWs and contribute to instructional development initiatives within their organizations.
Online Format
These online workshops are primarily synchronous and feature engaging, interactive techniques to promote active learning. Combining small and large group activities, the ISW emphasizes collaboration and practical application.
