1) What is Instructional Skills Workshop (ISW)?

The Instructional Skills Workshop is offered within a small group setting and is designed to enhance the teaching effectiveness of both new and experienced educators. During the 3-4 day workshop, participants design and conduct three “mini-lessons” and receive verbal, written and video feedback from the other participants. Using an experiential learning approach, participants are provided with information on the theory and practice of teaching adult learners, the selection and writing of useful learning objectives with accompanying lesson plans, techniques for eliciting learner participation, and suggestions for evaluation of learning. A very successful professional development initiative for educators, and offered in colleges, institutes, universities, polytechnics, hospitals, government departments, non-profits, and training organizations around the world.

6) How can a graphic facilitator do a studio piece if they aren't there?

Graphic Facilitation is a thinking tool to help groups talk, brainstorm, analyze, dialogue, resolve conflict, reach consensus and move forward. A graphic facilitator can use an audio, video and/or report to create a studio piece that captures your group's key points, and transforms them into a visual representation. It can then be used as an engagement and communication tool, for future group dialogue. I was trained and mentored by Drawing Change in 2018.

* Note: "Indigenization" is a place holder that signifies creating space for Indigenous voices and resources in your curriculum.*
